I absolutely love biscuits and gravy—it’s one of my go-to breakfasts on the weekends. However, when I’m camping, it can be a hassle to make, especially if I don’t want to pack an oven or find a way to keep the sausage cold. So, I decided to try out a few different brands of dehydrated biscuits and gravy to see if they could offer a convenient alternative.
First up is Peak Refuel. As usual, they deliver on taste. This meal comes with hearty chunks of biscuits and a flavorful, peppery gravy. One thing I noticed is that the biscuits need to be broken into smaller pieces for better hydration. While the package suggests a 10-minute soak, I found that the larger biscuit chunks still weren’t fully hydrated after 15 minutes—your results may vary. That said, the meal was delicious, with a good texture overall. The gravy was rich and creamy, not thin or watery.
The package contains two servings, each with 570 calories and 17 grams of protein. I’ll admit, I can easily finish the whole 2-serving bag in one sitting. The downside is that each serving contains 28 grams (115%) of saturated fat. Of course, if you are going into a day of hiking, you’re going to need all that to fuel your body.

Very tasty and easy to make. Break up those biscuit chunks. 🙂
